What is urgent care?

Urgent care includes medical services provided when you need urgent attention, but not immediate attention. For example, if you or your child suddenly present symptoms of the flu, have a cut that needs stitches, or may have sprained an ankle, you’ll get prompt, effective care in the DOCCS urgent care center.

Urgent care is often a better option if you've been in a car accident, unless you have sustained a life-threatening injury. Our doctors will see you more quickly than if you go to the emergency room and provide the same expert care you would expect from the hospital. If your doctor diagnoses an issue that requires emergency care, they’ll give you advice and help you to get the care you need.

What conditions do the doctors treat as urgent care?

If you experience any of the following symptoms or conditions, you should make your way to urgent care.

• Severe cough, cold, or flu symptoms

• Gastrointestinal issues like vomiting or diarrhea

• Allergic reactions

• High fevers

• Ear infections

• Sprains and broken bones

What if I need X-rays?

DOCCS has in-house X-ray services as part of their radiology unit. If you happen to need an X-ray, you’ll have one during your visit to the DOCCS urgent care.

What is the difference between urgent care and the emergency room?

The emergency room is for life-threatening medical emergencies. You should go to an emergency room if you experience chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, confusion, or any paralysis.
